Battery-powered automatic bollards are an ideal choice for residential use. Driven by lithium batteries, they offer all the standard functions of automatic bollards—such as impact resistance, theft prevention, vehicle blocking, area isolation, and perimeter management—while eliminating the need for an external power supply. Regular battery charging is all that’s required to keep them operational.
The battery life of these bollards varies by model and specification, which is easy to understand. In the standard model, specifically the bollard with a diameter of 219 mm, each battery can be used approximately 400 times due to its relatively heavy weight. At low temperatures, this frequency will have a certain impact. For bollards with a diameter of 168 mm, the battery can support around 800 cycles. As for the 120 mm diameter models, the theoretical usage reaches about 1500 cycles, though performance in cold environments may also be affected.
As mentioned earlier, battery performance is closely tied to operating temperature. Regions where temperatures consistently stay below -5°C are generally not suitable for battery-powered bollards due to the inherent physical limitations of lithium batteries. Therefore, if any manufacturer claims their battery-powered bollards can function at -40°C, such statements are not scientifically grounded. While high temperatures can also affect lithium batteries, real-world usage shows that warmer climates currently have a relatively minor impact on performance.
