WM-1 Control Cabinet: The Linkage Hub That Makes Automatic Bollards Think as One
Sep 10 , 2026

Automatic bollards stop vehicles, but they do not act alone. Behind every clean rise and fall is a control cabinet that decides when to move, how fast, and what happens when the power flickers. The WM-1 control cabinet is the linkage hub that turns a pair of standalone bollards into a single, coordinated security system.

What the WM-1 control cabinet actually is

At its core, the WM-1 is a 36V DC switch-mode control cabinet built for electromechanical bollards. It takes a standard 220V AC supply and converts it into the low-voltage power that drives the screw-driven lifting mechanism. A dedicated battery input terminal lets an external 36V battery take over if mains power drops, so the barrier stays operable during outages. A thermostat-controlled fan keeps internal temperature in check, and a front-panel voltmeter gives installers an instant read of system health.

One cabinet, two bollards, synchronized motion

The clearest expression of linkage is on the output terminals. The WM-1 runs Bollard 1 and Bollard 2 from the same control board, using shared UP, DOWN, and COM lines plus independent OPEN-LIMIT and CLOSE-LIMIT feedback for each unit. That means both bollards rise and lower together, but the controller still knows exactly where each post is. The mode switch and pair button let installers set master-follower behavior, while the time-delay DIP switch fine-tunes the interval between command and motion. For a double-lane entrance or a wide plaza, this synchronized motion is what prevents one bollard from being up while the other is still down.

Three ways to talk to the system

A truly linked bollard system has to speak the same language as the rest of the site. The WM-1 gives three options. A 433 MHz antenna handles RF remote control for guards or attendants who need point-and-press operation. A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi antenna connects the cabinet to the local network for remote monitoring and firmware updates. Most importantly, the Tuya & Shelly interface brings the bollards into smart-building and home-automation ecosystems, so they can be triggered by schedules, access-control relays, vehicle loops, or even voice scenes.

Closed-loop feedback keeps it honest

Linkage without feedback is just synchronized guessing. The WM-1 reads each bollard's limit switches, so it knows when a post has fully retracted or fully extended. LED status outputs and test buttons on the board give technicians immediate confirmation during commissioning and maintenance. If one unit drags, the controller sees it and can stop the cycle before damage spreads across the pair.

Built for real-world uptime

Security hardware has to work when everything else is having a bad day. The WM-1 keeps running on battery power when the grid goes down, stays dry behind sealed enclosures, and stays cool through the thermostat fan circuit. Because the bollards themselves are electromechanical screw-driven, there is no drive fluid, no high-pressure hose, and no trench drainage to maintain. The result is a linked system with fewer single points of failure.

Where a linked system matters

Any entrance wide enough for two bollards benefits from a shared controller. School campuses use the master-follower mode to seal the main gate cleanly at the end of drop-off. Commercial parking facilities tie the cabinet into ticket validators and vehicle loops so the bollards respond automatically. Government and utility sites layer the WM-1 behind access-control systems, turning the bollards into a physical extension of the credential reader.

The controller is the difference

bollard

A bollard is only as smart as the cabinet behind it. The WM-1 turns two separate barriers into one responsive edge: same command, same timing, same status awareness. Pair it with automatic bollards for active vehicle control, add fixed bollards for permanent perimeter protection, or use removable bollards where occasional access is enough. In every case, the WM-1 is what makes the line move as one.
